So Nice

We are home from our weekend away. It was SO NICE! We really enjoyed having some alone time together. We rested, explored the gardens, did some bike riding and went through the butterfly center at Callaway Gardens. The meals were great and it was fun being able to get a simple table for two---no high chairs, sippy cups, bibs, diaper bags or packed foods to worry about. What a luxury! :)

After our time at Callaway Gardens we came back to Atlanta and hit Six Flags for a day. It was an active fun-packed day. Kane rode most of the "maximum thriller" roller coasters and I rode a couple along with several of the moderate thrillers. We had a blast and just took our time rounding the park. Since summer is basically over and school is back in session, people weren't flooding the gates of Six Flags the day we went, so we literally stood in no lines. I think the longest we waited to ride was 5-10 minutes max! It was a great day to be there. We had planned to stay all day until the park closed but a thunder/lightening storm told us otherwise. We decided to split about 2 hours earlier than planned as the sky kept getting grayer and grayer and didn't look like it would be passing any time soon. We had already rode every ride that interested us, so we felt like we got our $$ worth. We finished off the evening by renting a movie on our way home and watched it after Mara Kate was in bed.

Now, we are back in reality and have already hit the ground running. Kane is tutoring tonight for a high school student (in Latin II) and will be doing that every Monday night this semester. He will also be working as a night supervisor on Wed and Thur. nights starting this week. We are trying to reserve Tuesday and Friday evenings as family nights because it may be all we have for the next few months. The weekends are sort of up in the air too, as there may be occasions when Kane picks up another student on an as needed basis. So, it will be crazy, but we will just take it one day at a time and try to make the most of the time we do have.

Below are some pictures of our weekend together. None of Six Flags I am sad to say, but we didn't feel like keeping track of a camera while riding high speed rides.

We ate at the Country Store at Callaway and our drinks came in these large mason jars--so fun!

Sounds like you guys had a great time.

Sounds like things life might be pretty busy for a while, but hopefully not too hectic to be enjoyable.

Oh, your trip looks and sounds like it was so nice! I need to put the gardens on our list of things to do the next time we are near Atlanta.

For the past year, Josh and I have worked really hard to preserve Thursday nights for "just us" since I've picked up some teaching and tutoring - and it has been such a good thing! I hope your family nights work out.
