Fall Fun!

Tonight I got together with my Bible study small group and we did a little craft using pumpkins---to get us in the mood for the Fall season. This is an idea we got from this month's Southern Living magazine---to use cookie cutters of different Fall shapes and create a "Fall pumpkin" for your porch or patio. Anyway, I decided on using a fall leaf as my shape and here is the way mine turned out! :)

Cute--much prettier than a jack-o-lantern! I saw a snapshot of 2 pumpkins that someone had painted...they got a long oval-looking one and a smaller, very round one. The oval one they painted green and the round one, red. They painted them to look like Bob (the tomato) and Larry (the cucumber) from Veggie Tales...maybe when Grant is older and could appreciate it I will attempt that! :)

That is really cool. I saw that in Southern Living and wondered how hard it would be to get a cookie cutter to go through the pumpkin. Was it hard or easy? Love, Mom

Mom,

It was sort of hard---they say to use a rubber mallet---you just have to "bang" it through. Once you get it going it is easier--it's just breaking through the touch skin that was hard.

GREAT job Jana! You really got the shape of the leaves well...how did you do that?! I would have hacked the pumpkin to pieces trying to carve leaves!!!
