Babymoon

Kane is on Spring Break this week and although he worked yesterday and today, we still had a great time enjoying the rest of his time off earlier in the week.

We had made plans to have a getaway, just the two of us during the time he was off for Spring Break. This was sort of like a babymoon----our last getaway before our lives change again when we welcome a new baby into our home. We know full well this time around what all of that means and we just wanted to make the most of the time we have together before that big event.

We headed to Knoxville on Friday and spent the night there. Then on Saturday morning we packed it up and headed to the mountains of North Carolina. Mara Kate stayed behind in Knoxville to spend several days with her Tuie & Papa Dog. She also was able to see Elizabeth & Choonghwan as they also came to Knoxville for a visit during Elizabeth's Spring Break. She had a grand time hanging out with family (she even got to go to Chuck E. Cheese with Eliz & Choonghwan) and I don't think she really missed us much at all.

When we first arrived at the cabin we ended up taking an unexpected afternoon nap, which was wonderful and a great start off to our time there. It really helped me to relax knowing there was literally nothing that HAD to be done. We just enjoyed our time together doing only what we felt like and nothing more. It was a refreshing time for sure.

I'm also thankful we were able to take some information on homeschooling and some curriculum catalogs to look through and talk over so we could get a better idea of what we are planning on doing with Mara Kate school wise for the Fall. I feel a bit overwhelmed, but do have a better idea of where our focus will be and what our goals are for her first year of schooling at home. We don't have it all figured out yet, but I feel like we've at least communicated on what we want for her and know that we are on the same page (very good feeling). We'll continue researching some materials online and make more concrete choices soon, but it was great to use some of that uninterrupted time to at least talk and get the ball rolling. (Another check off that to-do-before- baby list).

Gilead--the cabin, our home away from home for a few days

Hanging out on the front porch for a bit before heading into town
to eat lunch and do a little shopping/browsing

On Tuesday we headed back to Knoxville and spent one more night there before heading back to Rome. We had a great time at the cabin and in Knoxville on the front and back end of our trip and it was great getting back to Mara Kate who we did miss while we were away. I think Mara Kate wore herself out having fun without us though. I snapped this picture below of her on our way home Wednesday afternoon. She doesn't take naps anymore, but apparently she needed on this day!

Out like a light!

Talk to me, talk to me about your homeschooling plans :-) It's one of my favorite things to talk about!
