This week has been sort of busy so far. Maybe life is starting to pick up again after a bit of a lull after the holidays. This past weekend Kane and I went to the Georgia Tech Campus Recreation Center to check it out. Kane has been an automatic member since we moved here (membership fees are part of his regular school fees), but hasn't really used it. I haven't been a member simply because the trend around here is that everything for a "student spouse" at Tech is way overpriced. Thankfully, we found out we were wrong in our assumptions about the cost of a spouse membership fee at the CRC. It is only $10 per month for a spouse to join. They offer a lot of different options for fitness and exercise. They have a competition pool for lap swimming, a recreation pool with a lazy river and a huge water slide for family fun, treadmills and many other machines to promote the burning of fat and building of muscle. They also have a 4 lane walking/running track that overlooks their basketball courts. Thankfully this is something I can do with Mara Kate since they do allows strollers on the track. So far I have swam, used a stair step/climbing type machine and walked on the track twice. I am enjoying using our iPod on a regular basis and having a place to go to get some exercise, especially during the winter months when walking outdoors isn't really an option.
Kane has also done several online tutoring sessions in the evenings this week while I've occupied myself by watching the new season of American Idol. Tuesday we went out to dinner as a family compliments of a Chili's Gift Card we got for Christmas so that was something fun and a good change of pace. I worked yesterday morning at our church and today Mara Kate and I have playgroup that we hope to make it to later this morning.
I made a new "stoup" (as Rachael Ray calls something sort of like a soup and sort of like a stew) for supper last night. I decided to try and make a Mexican flavored soup with fajita seasoning. I looked in my pantry and pulled out anything I thought might go well together. I dumped all the ingredients in my slow cooker and let it go for a few hours. It actually turned out really well and will be something I make often in the winter time.
This afternoon I am picking up a good friend and dropping her at the airport as she leaves the country on a month long mission trip. Tomorrow I am driving an hour north to meet a friend from Chattanooga in Calhoun, Ga at their outlet stores. I am looking forward to seeing her and her 2 little girls and just catching up since we don't get to see one another often.
So, we have stayed active and it's been good. A few things we are looking forward to in the next few weeks are:
~A trip to Nashville to see Elizabeth and Choonghwan
~Valentine's Day! (and hopefully a date of some sort) :)
~A trip to Knoxville (and hopefully the opportunity to see some of my family too while I am that far north)
~A visit from one of Kane's college friends
~Mara Kate's 15 month check up (to see how much she has grown in the past 3 months)
Guess that's all for now.

Sounds like you've been keeping busy. Yes, we definitely need to make some plans to see Mara Kate, uh, er, I mean to see you again soon.
Love you,
Dad
I got a guest membership to the gym at ETSU - same idea as your gym there. It's so cheap and I love it!
