Finally Finished

I have finally finished the first smocked dress I started way back in March while visiting my Aunt Jane.

For more info on SMOCKING see my previous blog post.

I have sort of mastered the actual hand smocking, but still needed to learn how to "assemble" the dress with all the machine sewing and hand stitching to finish everything. Here are a few pictures of my first smocking project and a big thank you to my Aunt Jane for introducing me to this hand-work, which I LOVE and to my mother-in-law for helping me with the sewing part and for teaching me more this past weekend so I can move forward with the other 2 dresses I am working on.

I am SO thrilled with how this turned out and plan on having Mara Kate wear it SOON! :)

Jana,

You did an excellent job. The detail on the close-up view is amazing. (I probably couldn't have done it any better myself!)

I agree with all the above comments. It looks great, and I agree with Aunt Jane, I think you are a natural born smocker! Who would have thought my cowgirl that loved Go-Bots and was excited to get a basketball goal for Christmas one year, would be such a girly girl! Wow! Love, Mom
PS, I hope you get to feeling better soon!
