Full Weekend of Fun (and a nap)

We have had a full weekend filled with fun, relaxation, fellowship, worship, learning, food and a nap!

Friday afternoon Kane's Mom and Dad arrived with a large secretary type desk which has been in Kane's old bedroom back home for the past 2 years. It was made by his Grandfather, but we never moved it to our apartment because we assumed it would be too big/tall to fit. However, after some over the phone measurements and thoughts about reorganizing some things here, we decided to have it brought to us and to send a couple other things home with his parents. The change has been great already I actually feel like our apartment is BIGGER, which is nice.

I cooked chicken parmesan, pasta w/ marinara sauce, bread and salad for supper and then we spent most of the evening rearranging furniture and getting everything back in place. After that we had icecream sundaes for dessert at just sat and talked for a bit.

Saturday I was able to sleep in a bit (after Mara Kate not sleeping so well during the night). Kane's Mom and I spent some time sewing and then in the afternoon we went to the new Georgia Aquarium, which happens to be located in our backyard. We really do live only 5 blocks from the aquarium and so we walked there and back. Mara Kate was wonderful the entire time we were gone and was mesmerized by all the swimming creatures that were surrrounding her. Her eyes were the size of quarters for almost 2 hours solid.

Saturday night we went out to dinner at this little mexican restuarant near us--a Ga Tech hang out. It was good food and good conversation. Kane's parents headed home a bit after supper and we went to bed fairly early...we were tired from our full day.

Our morning started early this morning as we attended the early service at church and then attended a new Sunday school class on parenting children 0-6. We are really excited about this class and look forward to going through the book, Shepherding A Child's Heart, by Ted Tripp.

After Sunday school we headed over to a nearby park for our church's Fall picnic. It was a lot of fun and some more great fellowship. We sat on a blanket and ate and talked. We put Mara Kate in one of the baby swings for the first time (hopefully pictures to come) and she LOVED it!

After the picnic Kane was so sweet to let me crash for an afternoon nap while he played with Mara Kate. It has been a great weekend and nice to have a low key evening together as a family.

My parents facilitated several parenting series at CSPC, and Shepherding a Child's Heart was one of them. They really enjoyed leading it--I hope you all like it!

I almost forgot! On the subject of parenting books, I really liked Nurturing a Child's Soul as well. :)
