Tidbits of our Week

Last weekend we spent our Saturday driving to Birmingham to attend my nephew Grant's 3rd birthday party. It was a blast and I'm so glad we made the trip. We also stayed late after the party and had supper with the Guinans at their favorite Mexican restaurant. It was a long day (but completely worth it) and made for a late night arrival back home. The next morning, (Mother's Day) Kane was scheduled to usher at our church's early service. So, instead of a relaxed morning of eating breakfast in bed and slowly sipping my coffee (which is what Kane had planned) I ended up wondering for sure if I would make it to church at all. We got to bed late, were woken up several times in the night because of bad thunder storms and a tornado warning and tried to sleep in until the last possible minute before having to jump out of bed and rush around to get ready to go. I started out the day feeling rushed and tired, but I was thrilled to get a bouquet of happy sunflowers and purple iris' as well as a Happy Mother's Day balloon picked out by Mara Kate. :)

After church the day slowed down a lot and we did get to relax some in the afternoon. We decided to come home and then go out to eat for a late lunch. We went at 3pm and still had to wait 30 minutes for a table---crazy! We ended the day by going with our home group to Piedmont Park's annual "Shake on the Lake" event which is a free, outdoor Shakespeare play put on by the Georgia Shakespeare Festival. It was great and although we left during intermission to get a very tired little girl home, we really enjoyed the first half of the play and the fellowship we had with the other people we are growing to love from our home group.

The rest of this week has been full of visiting and spending time with friends. I had lunch with a good friend on Monday. We visited with 2 families from church on Tuesday (one in the morning and another after nap) and yesterday I had a friend over for lunch and that was so fun (especially since it was her first time to come to our home).

Nothing exciting to report from today---other than the fact that it has been very rainy and wet, which is always something to get excited about in dry, dry Georgia.

Tomorrow we'll finish our week out with our weekly music class and spend the weekend with Kane, helping him get ready for his upcoming guys adventure trip to the Grand Canyon.
